Training
organisations
|
There are a number of training organisations offering rolfing or similar deep tissue work:
- The Rolf Institute. Founded by Ida Rolf, and own the trademark Rolfing. Only practitioners trained at the Rolf Institute can call themselves rolfers.
- The Guild for Structural Integration. Ida Rolf's original teachers, who are still directing the Guild today, founded the Guild for Structural Integration. They split from the Rolf Institute in 1988, preferring to work closely to the 10 series as originally taught by Ida Rolf.
- The Hellerwork Institute. Joseph Heller was a senior Rolf Practitioner who worked with Dr Ida and was director of the Rolf Institute. However, Joseph Heller adapted the 10 series to create Hellerwork, which provides 11 sessions and includes more movement education than the original series.
- There are other schools offering the basic 10 series.
Training is concentrated mainly in America, Germany, Australia and Brazil. Some
schools offer intensive training to enable overseas students to train more
