British Complementary Medicine Association: The British Complementary Medicine Association supports and protects the integrity of its therapists, ensures the protection and well-being of their clients, and the high quality standards with which Complementary Medicine is delivered to the public.

Centre for Complementary Healthcare and Integrated Medicine at Thames Valley University: The Centre mission is "to take a lead role in the development of complementary and integrated medicine in modern healthcare through quality education, training and research and to facilitate the establishment of core academic and research skills within the complementary medicine professionals". Established in 2002.

The British Holistic Medical Association: The site of the British Holistic Medical Association. Has good links page.

The British Library: Health Care Information: An excellent collection of links to health related websites, including guidance on how to find good quality medical/healthcare information on the internet. UK bias, but has some internatonal links

Complementary and Alternative Medicine Specialist Library (NHS): The library is being developed by a project team. Links to CAM journals is useful.

The Complementary Medicine Association: The site of the Complementary Medicine Association. Its primary aim is to promote ethical, responsible, professional complementary medicine to the public and the medical profession.

The Institute for Complementary Medicine: A UK registered charity. It administers the British Register of Complementary Practitioners which it allows only highly trained individuals to register and who are bound by a code of ethics. ICM also offer a newsletter and articles aimed at the professional.

The Prince's Foundation for Integrated Health: Aim to promote effective healthcare using both complementary and conventional therapies, through collaboration between all forms of healthcare. Site includes details of events, publications and reports, including Parliamentary Committees.

Foundation for Integrated Medicine: This foundation was created to promote the development and integrated delivery of safe, effective and efficient forms of healthcare, including conventional and complementary medicine.

National Center for Complementary and alternative medicine (US): The mission of NCCAM is to: explore complementary and alternative healing practices in the context of rigorous science; train complementary and alternative medicine researchers; disseminate authoritative information to the public and professionals. NCCAM sponsors and conducts research using scientific methods and advanced technologies to study CAM.

The Research Council for Complementary Medicine: Carrying out, promoting and facilitating rigorous research in complementary medicine to encourage safe and effective practice and improved patient care.

The Internet Health Library: This site provides good lists of professional organisations and health problems (useful for case studies). Also has an abstracts search of published medical research.

Health Websites

The Cochrane Collobration: Access to databases including the highest evidence level of systematic reviews. Free to all in England.

Emedicine: An open access comprehensive medical textbook for all clinical fields: 10,000 Contributors and 6,500 Articles

Medicine Net: Is a professionally written medical dictionary (US spelling).

Medicines: Provides a Dictionary of Medicines. The data is supplied by the NHS Business Services Authority (NHSBSA), Prescription Pricing Division (PPD) and is updated weekly.

Merck: The Merck Manuals are a series of online healthcare books and library for medical professionals and consumers.

The National Library for Health (NLH): The NLH is to help patients and professionals use best current knowledge in decision-making, includes many useful resoucres (free).

The National Electronic Library for Health: Is run by the NHS and contains a massive database of medical research. An excellent search facility to make gathering your research evidence easy.

The National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence (NICE): Is an independent organisation responsible for providing national guidance on promoting good health and preventing and treating ill health in the UK.

Find Articles: A site that does what it says. Type in your search term and it trawls through over 300 journals.

US National Library of Medicine: PubMed is provided by the US National Library of Medicine and includes millions of citations from science journals. Abstracts can be viewed online and links to full articles are available (subscritptions to journals are required in most cases). An excellent resource.

Rheumatoidarthritis: Rheumatoidarthritis.realage.com offers succinct information regarding rheumatoid arthritis symptoms and steps for rheumatoid arthritis relief (including complementary health remedies).
