About my Job
I enjoy treating a wide range of conditions, but have recently become particularly interested in treating pregnancy symptoms since my wife has become pregnant. I have found that pregnant women respond particularly well to acupuncture, which makes it a very rewarding area of practice. Why I became a Therapist
My previous job was video editing, which had its perks, but I was finding the stress of sitting at a computer for hours on end debilitating. I had some acupuncture, which I found very beneficial, and decided this was the path for me in 2004. Although the training was very challenging, I enjoyed it very much, and now know it was the right choice.
My Motivation
There is nothing more satisfying than helping change someone's life for the better, and acupuncture can offer this in many cases. The more I learn, the more interesting and rewarding it becomes, so motivation isn't a problem.
My Training
The training at Westminster Uni was an intensive 3 year full-time degree, including a large chunk of clinical practice. I also had the opportunity to work at the Gateway clinic in London, the country's only NHS-funded acupuncture service.
About My Service
I enjoy the variety of the different clinics I work in. I work in two NHS clinics, as well as a yoga centre and a therapy centre. I particulalry enjoy being able to offer low-cost treatments at the multi-bed clinics, as I often treat people who might not otherwise be able to afford acupuncture.
My Projects
I hope to begin studying for an MA in Chinese herbs later this year. Although this will mean another 2 and a half years of part-time study, it will hopefully enable me to broaden my scope of practice even further.
