Case Study Finder Directory
The Case Study Finder Directory helps bring qualified therapists who are doing further complementary health studies together with other therapists who are willing to be their 'case study'. We have restricted this service to members of CompTogether so that any therapists volunteering to be case studies should be qualified and insured practitioners.

About Case Study Finder
When studying a new therapy, therapists often turn to friends, and family to be their 'case studies', to enable them to practise the skills they are learning. However, friends and family may not present the health problems therapists are looking to treat, or they cannot fit in with the demands of a tight study schedule. This service helps to fill that gap.
Benefits of using Case Study Finder:
- For same therapy matches, the student will benefit from the skills and knowledge of the qualified therapist volunteer.
- The student is able to access a wider range of presenting health difficulties.
- Both therapist and student will be increasing their networks.
- For qualified therapists, they can experience treatments for free or for a small fee.
How does the Case Study Finder work?
Practitioners who are not already members of CompTogether will first need to join by completing the Join Form. Once this is done, they will then be entitled to put forward details of their studies and the kind of volunteer they require. Only practitioners who are logged onto the site will be able to seek out other practitioners to offer to be their case study, as no contact details are shown to non-members who are visiting the site.
Making Contact
If you are volunteering to be a case study then simply choose the therapy that interests you most, and browse all the student therapists listed.
When you've found your ideal choice, we suggest emailing the therapist first with brief details of who you are, to see if they need a volunteer at present. As you will know, when you contact the student they may ask you some questions about your health to make sure you are able to receive the treatment they are offering, and the time commitment expected from you. Likewise you will be able to ask the student more about their training so far, and find out whether what they can offer is really right for you.
Most therapists offer treatments for free while others will charge a nominal amount or ask for an optional donation to cover their costs. You may also want to ask for copies of their current certificates and insurance details. The situation you are facing is that of any member of public seeing a practitioner for the first time. Important! We do not check credentials - you must do that yourself at or before your first meeting.
Security for Students
Only professional therapists who are members of a professional body or organisation are encouraged to join the site. Details are password protected. Any therapist volunteering to be a case study should have a profile on the site, either in Purple Pages or the Swap Directory or both. This will allow you to check out their details.
As we do not check any of the therapist's details before registering them on the site, you may want to check the therapist's credentials, or simply treat them like any member of the public phoning you for a treatment for the first time. Your safety is your own responsibility.
